I don't know about you but with life's daily activities keeping you busy months and years can seem like a blink of the eye. Many times auto and homeowners insurance is "just another bill to pay".  Before you know it you've had the same policy for 3 plus years.  I cringe every time renewal comes around as the fee's tend to rise 10+ percent!  Many auto policies are 6 month terms and after 2 to 3 years you are paying 30% to 50% more than you originally signed up for!  Stop the bleeding of cash when you purchase your next home and shop those rates!  Many insurers will give you a discounted rate to combine your auto and home (and boat too if your're that fortunate) on one policy.  Also be sure to discuss all the security features on each car and your home as there are even more discounts for those too!  Are you a VET or active duty (if so many thanks for your service) servie man or woman?  If you are many insurers have another discount for you!  It's good to talk frankly with them and call at least 3 insurers and get written policy estimates.  Progressive now offers an internet sign up discount for new policies.  I guess this way they are not paying a human compensation and are passing the savings off to you.

So take the time and make some calls.  After 5 years those savings could have netted you a trip to somewhere like the Bahamas!  Set yourself a reminder now to shop them again in 1-2 years from your last "new" policy!
